Exotic Pets in Dubai: A Changing Landscape
Venturing into foreign lands often reveals unexpected sights. In India, an elephant might replace a car, while parts of North America might showcase individuals with pet foxes or alligators. For a long time, spotting someone strolling with a pet tiger or lion was not uncommon in Dubai. Thankfully, the era of owning such wild felines as pets has waned in Dubai.
Over four years ago, Dubai and the wider UAE enacted laws banning the ownership of pets like lions, tigers, and cheetahs. Despite the risk of a hefty fine, approximately $136,000, some individuals still risk their image by flaunting their status. Interestingly, the same amount could have secured a water car with $1000 to spare, providing a stark choice between fines and extravagances.
